A vital link on the Meuse
The lock forms a critical link along the Meuse waterway, and any downtime directly affects river traffic. Our team carried out a full structural inspection, re-sealed the gate mechanism, and reinforced the concrete sill, all while keeping the shutdown window as short as possible.
Working within a narrow shutdown window
Scaffolding, dewatering, and the gate overhaul were sequenced tightly, so river traffic could resume on schedule, with daily coordination alongside the waterway operator.
Divers and riggers worked in short weather windows to lift the gate leaf for inspection, while temporary flow control kept the lock chamber usable for smaller craft throughout the works.
Handover and reopening
The lock reopened to full-size barge traffic on the agreed date, with a maintenance log and inspection schedule handed over to the waterway authority.
